The June 2026 Summer Game Fest had a little something for everyone. These announcements coupled with what we saw at the latest State of Play has me pretty excited about the next year of gaming, although I have an inkling that developers are throttling down a bit on this gen to prepare their absolute best for the PS6 and the next XBOX which are right around the corner (source - my random thoughts).
I won’t walk you through every game shown and/or announced, but I wanted to share some gems I have got my eyes on - enjoy!
Resident Evil veronica (2027)
SGF kicked off with this, and it gave me goosebumps. The graphics and detail looked amazing and I don’t care if we just got Requiem, inject more Resident Evil right into my veins please. We won’t have to wait too long as this will be dropping in 2027, hopefully the earlier part!
alien isolation 2 (Wishlist it)
Alien Isolation terrified me…like for real. I felt like it was wayyyy ahead of the times and wasn’t appreciated enough tbh. I am sure they will knock it out of the park with the next installment, and I am not looking forward to all the ways they are going to scare the crap out of us.
genATlas (wishlist it)
This developer knows how to make cinematic COLOSSAL games. Everything about this screams cinema and it looks like such an unique twist on so many genres. I love games like this that take a chance and try something new, so it is solidly on my radar.
haex (launching 2027 - wishlist now)
This out of this world Remnant Meets First Descendant co-op game really stood out to me. There was so much mind bending stuff my words won’t do it justice so…just watch the trailer.
the last ronin (in development)
This game is something lots of people have been chatting about and waiting for. Although I am not super up to date on the lore, it seems like a really depressing gritty game where only one TMNT is left seeking vengeance. Who doesn’t love a good vengeance game? This one may be far out as we didn’t get any dates or a note to wishlist.
cross/Fire (Wishlist now)
This game topped my list immediately. A 3rd person gritty cinematic action shooter, where the character responds accordingly to the cover in front of them - are we finally evolving? The gunplay and combat looked great as did the story, so let’s hope this continues down the right path!
stellar blade blood rain (in development)
All you Stellar Blade fans can relax - the next installment is on the way! It definitely looks like its from the same universe and it introduces some new characters as well. No dates attached here, just the note that it’s in development.
final fantasy 7 revelation (spring 2027)
SGF closed with this banger - the next iteration for FF7. And…you won’t have to wait long - it’s dropping Spring 2027. Everything looked great and I am sure the story will be good too - they always cook with FF7 so you can expect a solid game here and the final installment for this series.
